Tickwind MCP server

Give Claude, Cursor or any MCP client direct access to Tickwind's US-market boards. One URL, nothing to install, no API key and no account.

Add it

Point your client at this endpoint:

https://api.tickwind.com/mcp

In a client that takes a JSON config file, that is:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "tickwind": {
      "url": "https://api.tickwind.com/mcp"
    }
  }
}

It speaks JSON-RPC 2.0 over plain HTTP. Opening the URL in a browser is harmless — it answers GET with a one-line description of itself.

Arguments are closed sets. An invented value is refused and the valid options are named, rather than being answered with an empty board — an empty result reads to a model as "there is nothing there", which it will then state as fact.

Why there is no API key

Every finance MCP server we surveyed asks you to bring your own paid data key. Ours are free and redistribution-safe at the source — SEC EDGAR, Cboe, FINRA, CFTC — so there is no metered vendor cost to pass on to you, and no reason to make you carry a credential for it.

The market-wide boards are served from caches this site already keeps warm, so calling them cannot add load upstream. The two per-stock tools run the same computation as their public web pages, under the same rate limit.

What it deliberately does not do

No watchlist, holdings, notes or alerts. Those tools are absent rather than locked. Serving per-user data would require an OAuth flow, and that setup friction is exactly what this server exists to avoid — so the line is drawn at public data, permanently.

It does not hand back bare numbers. Every response carries its own provenance and limits inline — the venue, the disclosure lag, what the figure does and does not mean. An assistant restates what it reads, so the framing has to travel with the data. Quote those caveats rather than dropping them.

Nothing here is investment advice, and none of it is real-time: Cboe options data is delayed roughly 15 minutes, 13F holdings are a quarter old, and congressional trades may be disclosed up to 45 days after the fact.

Prefer plain HTTP?

The same boards are readable without MCP. See citing Tickwind data for the public JSON and CSV endpoints, dated permalinks and the reuse terms.
